Windows Vista Mail Setup

General Setup

  • Open Windows Vista Mail.
  • From the menu, select Tools -> Accounts.

 

  • Click the Add button.

 

  • Select E-mail Account from the list and click Next.

 

  • Enter your name in the space provided and click Next

 

  • Enter your e-mail address in the space provided and click Next.

 

  • Make sure that POP3 is selected from the drop-down menu.
  • Enter mail.idmi.net if using the older mail client, or email.idmi.net if using the newer mail client in the incoming server field and the outgoing server field.
  • Check the box next to Outgoing server requires authentication.

  • Enter your full e-mail address in the E-mail username field.
  • Enter your e-mail password in the Password field.
  • Click Next.

 

  • Click Finish.

 

  • Highlight the account you just created and click the Properties button.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Change the number in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field to 587.
  • Click OK and then Close.
 

Password Entry

  • Open Windows Vista Mail.
  • Select Tools -> Accounts from the menu.

 

  • Select your account from the list that appears and click Properties.

 

  • Click on the Servers tab.
  • Highlight the old password in the Password field (will appear as dots) and delete it.

  • Enter your new password in the Password field.
  • Click OK to close the current window, and then click Close to finish.

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Port Configuration

  • Open Windows Vista Mail.
  • Select Tools -> Accounts from the menu.

 

  • Select your account from the list that appears and click Properties.

 

  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Change the port number in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field to 587.

 

  • Click OK and then click Close.
