Windows Live Mail 7 Setup

General Setup

  • Open Windows Live Mail.
  • Click the Accounts tab in the menu.
  • Click the Email icon.

 

  • Enter your e-mail address, password, and name in the spaces provided.
  • Check the box beside Manually configure server settings and click Next.

 

  • Select your account type (POP or IMAP) from the dropdown menu.
  • Under Incoming server information, enter mail.idmi.net if using the older mail client, or email.idmi.net if using the newer mail client in the Server address field and your full e-mail address in the Login user name field.
  • Under Outgoing server information, enter mail.idmi.net if using the older mail client, or email.idmi.net if using the newer mail client in the Outgoing server field, change the number in the Port field from 25 to 587, check the box beside Requires authentication and click Next.

  • Click Finish.

 

Password Entry

  • Open Windows Live Mail.
  • Click the Windows Live Mail (Blue) tab.
  • Select Options > Email accounts from the menu.

 

  • In the list that appears, click on the account to be changed and click Properties.

 

  • Click the Servers tab.
  • Under the Incoming Mail Server section, enter your new password in the Password field.
  • Click OK.

  • Click Close.
 

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Port Configuration

  • Open Windows Live Mail.
  • Click the Home (Blue) tab.
  • Select Options -> Email accounts from the menu.

 

  • Select your account from the list and click the Properties button.

 

  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Change the number in the Outgoing server (SMTP) field from 25 to 587.

 

  • Click OK.
  • Click Close.
