Microsoft Outlook 2000 Setup

General Setup

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2000.
  • Select Tools -> Accounts from the menu.
  • Click on the Mail tab.
  • Click on the Add button and select Mail from the menu that appears.


  • Enter your name in the space provided and click Next.


  • Enter your full e-mail address in the space provided and click Next.


  • Select POP3 from the drop-down menu.
  • Enter mail.idmi.net if using the older mail client, or email.idmi.net if using the newer mail client in the space provided for the incoming mail server.
  • Enter mail.idmi.net if using the older mail client, or email.idmi.net if using the newer mail client in the space provided for the outgoing mail server.
  • Click Next.

  • Enter your full e-mail address in the Account Name field.
  • Enter the password you were provided in the Password field and click Next.


  • Select the appropriate connection from the list that appears and click Next.

  • Click the Finish button.

  • The e-mail account you just created should now appear on the list of accounts in the Internet Accounts dialog box. Select the account and click Properties.
  • In the window that appears, click on the Servers tab.
  • On the bottom of the window is a check box that states, My server requires authentication. Check this box and then click the Settings box next to it.

  • In the window that appears, make sure that the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio is selected and click OK.

  • Click on the Advanced tab.
  • Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port from 25 to 587.
  • Click OK and then Close.
 

Password Entry

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2000.
  • Select Tools -> Accounts from the menu.
  • Click on the Mail tab.
  • Double click on the account to be changed.

  • In the window that appears, click on the Servers tab.
  • Clear the existing password from the Password field (will be masked with asterisks) and enter the new password.

  • Click OK and then Close.
 

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Port Configuration

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2000.
  • Select Tools -> Accounts from the menu.
  • Click on the Mail tab.
  • Double click in the account to be changed.

  • In the window that appears, click the Advanced tab.
  • Change the number in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field from 25 to 587.

  • Click OK and then click Close.
