Microsoft Outlook 2010 Setup

General Setup

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2010.
  • Click the File tab from the top menu.
  • Click Add Account.

 

  • Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

 

  • Select Internet E-mail from the list and click Next.

 

  • Under User Information, enter your name and e-mail address in the space provided.
  • Under Server Information, select POP3 for the Account Type, and enter mail.idmi.net if using the older mail client, or email.idmi.net if using the newer mail client for the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server.
  • Under Logon Information, enter your full e-mail address in the User Name field, and enter your password in the Password field.
  • Click the More Settings button.

  • Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

 

  • Click on the Advanced tab.
  • In the Outgoing server (SMTP) field, change the number from 25 to 587.
  • Click OK.

 

  • Click Next, and then Finish.

 

 

Password Entry

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2010.
  • Click the File tab from the top menu.
  • Select Account Settings -> Account Settings from the menu.

 

  • In the list that appears, click on the account to be changed and click Change.

 

  • Clear the existing password (masked as asterisks) from the Password field and and enter the new password.

  • Click Next and then click Finish.
  • Click Close.
 

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Port Configuration

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2010.
  • Click the File tab from the top menu.
  • Select Account Settings -> Account Settings from the menu.

 

  • Select your account from the list and click Change.

 

  • Click the More Settings button.

  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Change the number in the Outgoing server (SMTP) field from 25 to 587.

 

  • Click OK.
  • Click Next and then click Finish.
  • Click Close.
